CHIRALPAK®

CHIRALPAK® Polysaccharide Chiral Stationary Phases are made with a spherical high quality silica support onto which the polymeric amylose chiral selector is physically coated or immobilized. 

The CHIRALPAK® product range available from Daicel may be divided into two distinct groups: modern, immobilized phases and traditional, coated phases.

Immobilized Phases

The polysaccharide-based CSPs, well recognized for their broad range of applications and remarkable loading capacity, are manufactured by immobilizing the polysaccharide derivatives onto silica matrices. Immobilization of the polysaccharide derivatives on a matrix provides universal solvent compatibility. This broadens the range of solvents for mobile phases, thereby introducing new selectivity profiles and improved productivity. Virtually any organic solvent can be used in conjunction with these immobilized CSPs.

Available Immobilized Phases CHIRALPAK® IA, IB, IC, ID, IE, IF and a new immobilized CSP – CHIRALPAK IG – has been added to the six polysaccharide derivatives listed above.

CHIRALPAK IA: Amylose tris (3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate)
CHIRALPAK IB: Cellulose tris (3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate)
CHIRALPAK IC: Cellulose tris (3,5-dichlorophenylcarbamate)
CHIRALPAK ID: Amylose tris (3-chlorophenylcarbamate)
CHIRALPAK IE: Amylose tris (3,5-dichlorophenylcarbamate)
CHIRALPAK IF: Amylose tris (3-chloro-4-methylphenylcarbamate)
CHIRALPAK IG: Amylose tris (3-chloro-5-methylphenylcarbamate) 

CHIRALPAK IH: Amylose tris (S)-a-methylbenzylcarbamate)

 

The immobilized CSPs exhibit greatly enhanced robustness and offers remarkable stability.

All chiral selectors are immobilized on high-efficiency 5µm diameter spherical silica. Immobilized CSPs are available in different particle sizes and in a wide range of column dimensions.

All immobilized CSPs are available in columns packed with 5µm and 3µm particle size. The 3µm particle size columns are intended for high-speed, high-efficiency separations of enantiomers and offer the same selectivity and stability characteristics as those of their 5µm immobilized selectors. The columns exhibit stability to pressure drops up to 400 bar. Such high column stability is one of the most important attributes of fast chromatography, since it ensures efficient column operation over an extended period of time.

Chiral Technologies is now offering “i-CHIRAL 4 - The Primary Screening Set.” This set of columns includes four 4.6 x 150mm columns packed with 3µm immobilized CSP (CHIRALPAK IA, IB, IC, ID). The part number for this set is DA50524
