OV® Capillary Columns

OV® Capillary Columns ensure very reproducible results with low bleed, high thermal stability and high theoretical plate counts.

The first liquid phase with a silicone design for use as a gas chromatographic stationary phase (OV-1) was introduced in 1966. Since then OV has continued to develop and manufacture the most complete line of liquid phases available. They have modified their phases with a variation of functional groups to achieve a wide polarity range.

Here is the list of liquid phases available in Capillary columns:

OV®-1 (100% dimethylpolysiloxane)

OV-1 capillary columns are bonded and crosslinked. They are a non-polar dimethylsilicone capillary column with an operating temperature range from -60C to 330/350C.  OV-1 applications include amines, flavors, fragrances, hydrocarbons, PCBs, pesticides, and phenols. The OV-1 Phase is equivalent to USP G2.

OV®-1ms (100% dimethylpolysiloxane) low bleed, "ms" type

OV-1ms capillary columns are bonded and crosslinked. They are a non-polar dimethylsilicone capillary column with an operating temperature range from -60C to 330/360C.  OV-1ms columns have very low bleed characteristics. The OV-1ms columns has identical selectivity to OV-1 (USP G2).

OV®-5 (5% diphenyl 95% dimethylpolysiloxane)

OV-5 capillary columns are bonded and crosslinked. They are a non-polar diphenyldimethylsilicone capillary column with an operating temperature range from -60C to 330/350C.  OV-5 applications include alkaloids, aromatics, drugs of abuse, fatty acid methyl esters, herbicides, hydrocarbons, halogenated compounds, and pesticides. The OV-5 phase is equivalent to USP G27.

OV®-5ms (5% diphenyl 95% dimethylpolysiloxane) low bleed, "ms" type 

OV-5ms capillary columns are bonded and crosslinked. They are a non-polar diphenyldimethylsilicone capillary column with an operating temperature range from -60C to 330/360C. OV-5ms columns have very low bleed characteristics. The OV-5ms column is an exact equivalent to OV-5 (USP G27).

OV®-17 (50% Diphenyl, 50% Dimethylpolysiloxane)

OV-17 capillary columns are bonded and crosslinked. They are a mid-polarity capillary column with an operating temperature range from 0C to 260/320C.  OV-17 applications include herbicides, steroids, and drug screening. The OV-17 Phase is equivalent to USP G3.

OV®-20 (20% diphenyl 80% dimethylpolysiloxane)

OV-20 capillary columns are bonded and crosslinked. They have a low to mid polarity and are solvent rinsable. OV-20 capillary columns have an operating temperature range from -20C to 300/320C. OV-20 applications include Alcoholic Beverages, Flavor Aromatics, Volatile Compounds.

OV®-35 (35% diphenyl 65% dimethylpolysiloxane)

OV-35 capillary columns are bonded and crosslinked. They are a mid-polarity diphenyldimethylpolysiloxane capillary column with an operating temperature range from 40C to 300/320C. It is solvent rinsable and has low bleed. OV-35 applications include aroclors, pesticides, and pharmaceuticals. The OV-35 Phase is equivalent to USP G42.

OV®-225 (50% cyanopropylphenyl 50% dimethylpolysiloxane)

OV-225 capillary columns are bonded and crosslinked. They are a mid/high polarity cyanopropylphenyl dimethylpolysiloxane capillary column with an operating temperature range from 40C to 220/240C.  It is solvent rinsable and has low bleed. OV-225 applications include fatty acid methyl esters (FAME), PUFA, alditol, and neutral sterols. The OV-225 Phase is equivalent to USP G7.

OV®-351 (nitroterephthalic acid modified PEG)

OV-351 capillary columns are bonded and crosslinked. They are a high polarity nitroterephthalic acid modified PEG capillary column with an operating temperature range from 40C to 250C.  It is solvent rinsable. OV-351 applications include underivatized free fatty acids. The OV-351 Phase is equivalent to USP G35.

OV®-624 (priority pollutants phase)

OV-624 capillary columns are bonded and crosslinked. They are solvent rinsable. These capillary columns are designed for the analysis of priority pollutants and have an operating temperature range from -20C to 260C. OV-624 applications include EPA Method 502.25 Volatile Organics.

OV®-1301 (6% cyanopropylphenyl methylpolysiloxane)

OV-1301 capillary columns are bonded and crosslinked. They have a low to mid polarity and are solvent rinsable. OV-1301 capillary columns have an operating temperature range from -20C to 280/300C. OV-1301 applications include volatile organics, pharmaceutical samples, alcohols, oxygenates, pesticides, aroclors, and PCBs. The OV-1301 Phase is equivalent to USP G43.

OV®-1701 (14% cyanopropylphenyl methylpolysiloxane)

OV-1701 capillary columns have an operating temperature range from -20C to 280/300C. OV-1701 applications include pharmaceutical samples, alcohols, oxygenates, pesticides, aroclors, PCBs and solvents. The OV-1701 Phase is equivalent to USP G46.

Carbowax 20M (polyethylene glycol (PEG))

Carbowax 20M capillary columns are bonded and crosslinked. They are a high polarity PEG capillary column with an operating temperature range from 20C to 260C.  It is solvent rinsable. Some applications include alcohols, aromatics, essential oils, glycols, and polar solvents. This PEG Phase is equivalent to USP G16.
