Technical Outside Sales Representative

Canadian Life Science is looking for a Technical outside Sales Representative with a chemistry or biochemistry background based in Vancouver. The successful candidate will support all existing and potential customers in the territory of British Columbia and Manitoba.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Achieve sales objectives, develop new business opportunities, and create strategy to grow the territory
  • Develop and implement a sales plan, develop effective ways to market products, increase territory revenue and profitability
  • Demonstrate the skills and ability to understand customer needs and identify solutions. This requires a good knowledge and understanding of analytical laboratory techniques
  • Build long term relationships with existing and potential customers (Industry & Academic). Prospect, qualify new leads and bring in new business opportunities on an ongoing basis
  • Prepare quotations for customers and the further follow up
  • Maintain the CRM system (Customer Relationship Management) by continually updating information which is then available to the sales support and marketing teams. This requires discipline and care for the quality of data collected and transmitted
  • Working with Sales Manager to assess accounts and propose yearly sales objectives for each product line and reviewing plans regularly throughout the year and adjust actions as required
  • Participate in events such as conferences, seminars, sales meetings, etc., as well as organizing product presentations
  • This position requires some availability outside normal working hours.
  • Candidate must appreciate travelling and be available to travel approximately 40% of the time (British Columbia and Manitoba)

Skills and qualifications:

  • Fluent in English (Oral and written)
  • University or college degree in analytical chemistry and / or equivalent experience
  • Performance oriented individual with great communication skills
  • Sales experience would be an asset
  • Active listening skills and customer solution oriented approach
  • Strong work ethic, highly motivated and successfully handles multiple tasks, executes in a timely manner and staying organized and works well with others
  • Ability to work independently, effectively communicates and works well in a team and shows initiative to contribute to company’s growth
  • Ability to adapt in fast-paced environment and able to demonstrate time management skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, the web in general and the ability to adapt quickly to new software
  • Experience in Sage 300 and CRM is an asset
