Canadian Life Science is seeking an organized and proactive Accounting Assistant, part-time position, to join our organization.

You will work directly with our office staff to ensure all administrative tasks are efficiently and effectively implemented. Must have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks at once, and a wide breadth of experience managing clerical responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic bookkeeping and accounting related tasks
  • Ensures accounts receivable are current, help process accounts payable by posting purchase invoices
  • Data entry – posting staff related expenses – mileage and all related expenses
  • Maintaining database and keeping information up-to-date
  • In charge of providing credit references for existing customers and inquiring credit references for new customers
  • Provide support to the accounting staff
  • Assist in year-end tasks; Assisting with audits, fact checks and resolving discrepancies
  • Support office staff with general operational tasks
  • Suggest changes to office task workflow to improve efficiency
  • Maintain filing system
  • Required to assist in other duties to cover for holidays
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Accounting degree, at least 2 years of work experience
  • Familiarity with basic Accounting principles
  • Proficiency with computers and bookkeeping software (SAGE 300)
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) is a must
  • Accurate data entry and reporting skills
  • Fast, proficient and accurate typist
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work and remain positive
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Strong work ethic, motivated and works well with others and independently
  • Ability to speak French would be an asset

9:00 - 1:00pm, 20 hours per week
